Today electrician installed an AMS power consumption meter at my home. Automatic measurement systems (AMS) is a technology that measures power consumption on an hourly basis and automatically sends information about the power consumption of the network company. The meter continuously record the amount of electricity used. This registration is collected and transmitted via radio to the network company four times a day. This transfer takes only a few seconds. Norwegian communications authority has dedicated following frequencies for AMS: 444.675 MHz, 444.700 MHz and 444.725 MHz. The power meter transmitter sending with a power of 10-500 mW during the short time. The meter is produced by Kamstrup/Denmark. So far so good, not detected any radio noise on HF or VHF !
