My WSPR signal received by CX2ABP/D on 15m band. Running only 100mW and broadband sloppy dipole antenna. Amazing! Rod is living in Montevideo but his callsign /D means that he is at weekend house. Probably he has there a very good antenna.
This Winter I got an issue with SPID rotor when outside temperature was below zero. Found out that the problem is inside an electrical motor enclosure. There is a drain hole but not helping much if water frozen inside. To solve that I put a protection above the rotor….just a plastic bucket…..and hope for no more
Built Hans Summers Ultimate 3S kit over the Winter and got my first spots on 10, 15, 20 and 40m. The first test done with the unit after building and configuring the software was with WSPR (Weak Signal Propagation Reporter). Output power at the moment is 100mW to the sloping Diamond WD330S antenna. Below a partly
Last night, January 3-4, Earth passed through a stream of debris from shattered comet 2003 EH1, source of the annual Quadrantid meteor shower. The debris stream is narrow. As a result, the Quadrantids peak tends to be brief. Looks like maksimum for me was as shown below on diagram from SGO Meteor Radar, January 4, first
Finished my next project on the way to 10 GHz. Rubidium 10 MHz oscillator ready for use with a nice sinusoidally signal. Will use it as external referancer for 10 GHz transverter and IC-706MKIIG / IC-910H transceiver.
Band exploded about 15Z, so many stations were calling that sometimes was impossible to read signals. I was looking for new sqr´s but not luck this time. Totally worked 13 QSO´s, 11 sqr´s and best QRB with OK1TEH (JO70fd) 983 km.
After upgrading my 2m station i did a check if I´m capable to do EME QSO. Station now is : antenna 2 x 6 elements, vertical stacked, power amp possible up to 600 watts. Looks like a main lobb of antenna is up to 12 deg. Did an easy QSO with BIG GUN station HB9Q – 15m
The annual Geminid meteor shower peaked night, Dec. 13-14, as Earth passes through a stream of gravelly debris from comet 3200 Phaethon. This year activity on 2m band was much better then last year so I decided to look for new sqr´s for me. During 4 days, Dec. 11-15, worked 23 sqr´s: KP13, JN49, IN78, JO01, JN16, KO48, KO59, KO16,
After some years outside, my ICOM AH4 with a short wire, did a strange noise so I decided to checked it. When opened it saw this! Waterproof ? I don’t thinks so ! Probably up to 1 liter of water inside.
